1. Uap di dalam tabung
    a. Reotangular vapor body
    b. Round vapor body
2. Uap di luar tabung
    a. Natural circullation : - Short Tube
                                       - Long Tube
    b. Forced circullation : - Tube element di luar vapor body
                                       - Tube masuk dalam vapor body

Selain itu evaporator dapat diklasifikasikan antara lain :
1. Peralatan yang langsung dipanasi oleh api
2. Peralatan dengan medium pemanas dalam jacket, double wall, dan sebagainya.
3. Vapor-heated evaporator dengan tubular heating surface
     a. Horizontal tube : uap dalam tube
     b. Vertical tube : - Standard
                               - Basket
                               - Long-tube type
                               - Falling film
                               - Forced circullated type
